Bad Credit Denying You Your Mortgage?

I have a lot of friends who have been getting married and starting their families lately. Unfortunately though, with this economy, a lot of them are struggling due to bad credit. I can’t imagine anything much worse than being ready to start your family and being unable to get a home because their credit is preventing them from qualifying for a mortgage loan. But now I think I’m going to suggest checking out Advantage Home Rates to them. This company prides itself on helping people with bad credit scores get the mortgages that they’ll need to own their first (or second, or …) home.

This site provides tons of information to people about what they’ll need in order to get the loan they’re looking for, and even specific information for what type of loan they want. For example they provide information about how to get a mortgage loan when you’re Self-Employed and dealing with the fact that lenders are uneasy over the fact that you won’t have any W-2s or easy income verification. Their instructions walk you right through what research you’ll need to do, what kind of rates you’ll be looking at, and basically everything you’re going to need to know in order to finally get that loan. They even provide information on what they call “Jumbo Mortgage Loans” which are loans that exceed $417,000.

In addition to their information pages on the types of loans people might be looking for, Advantage Home Rates also provides a tutorial section where people can get even more information such as how to modify your mortgage. Another tutorial explains points and how you can determine if you can afford to pay a mortgage with them.

In the end, I think that Advantage Home Rates provides some excellent information for people who may be struggling in this economy. So far my credit score is pretty good (over 700), but if it ever takes a turn for the worse, I hope that companies like this will still be around when it comes time for me to look for my first home and mortgage!

True Blood

Written by my friend Marquis Finley

It’s true. The vampire craze can affect anyone. Of all the shows I watch on my premium movie channels, True Blood has to be among my favorites.

True Blood is set in a small town in Louisiana where vampires have “come out of the coffin” – aka revealed themselves to the public at large. Some people are frightened Southern churchgoers, some are young and wild and turn into clubbing vampire addicts, but the heroine, Sookie Stackhouse, defies all reaction and takes it a step further – she finds herself caught in a love triangle between two very different undead hunks.

I have to say, True Blood isn’t a show for everyone, given the high quantities of blood, sex, violence, and sheer boggling gratuity (it’s from HBO, after all). I almost turned it off just because I wasn’t used to seeing television get away with some of the stuff they like to show.

But if you have a stomach for blood and an interest in great supernatural romance, True Blood might be something for you. It certainly gets my butt in the seat every weekend.

Moving Into My New Home

Thanks for the guest post by Jo Levy

We bought a home a little over a year ago but waited patiently for it to be ready for us to move in. We got a really good deal on a home that was completely gutted from the inside. We decided to buy the home and have my uncle do all the inside work. We waited about six months until the home was actually ready and started to move our stuff.

I thought that the move was going to be the final step, but there were so many things after we got all our furniture into the home that we still had to do. One of the things we needed was sign up to bundle CLEAR and TV service. These are two services that we could not do without. It was easy signing up for all three services as we used the same company and just transferred our services.

Another thing we had to do was change our address and make sure all of our utlities and bills were switched over. The first month was the hardest because we got double everything from water bills to phone bills.

About a month after we finally got settled in it started to feel like home. I am glad we are finally situated and have a place to call our own.

College Connections

Guest post compliments of Ava Reynolds

After going to college a few years ago I really noticed how important my family was to me. The first year I didn’t miss them at all as I met new people, made new friends, and joined so many clubs I didn’t have time to breathe. After my rebellious new student phase where I wanted to be on my own and answer to no one I began to miss my Dad. Not just my Dad but also my aunts, uncles, grandparents, and even my little sister.

All I can say is thank goodness for the invention of internet satellite because in just seconds we can begin an entire conversation online. Whether utilizing social media websites, chats, or just sending e-mails I can keep them updated on my life and get the skinny on theirs. I found out that as my little sister got older I actually had fun talking to her. She was surprised to find out how much older and wiser her big sister is. She recently moved to Romania to get married, crazy I know! I can still keep in touch with her via hughes net in houston. When you say you can’t wait to go to college to get away from your family, just know you’ll soon be taking that back.

Sports, Sports Sports!

I’ve never been a big television watcher, but all of a sudden I’m finding myself watching more and more. But I’m not watching typical TV shows (okay, I catch a few episodes of Law & Order here and there)… For the most part I’m watching sports. Baseball…soccer…football…just anything. I mean, during the Winter Olympics I even watched Curling for the first time. Unfortunately we don’t have many channels that provide sport coverage so I haven’t gotten to see quite as much as I would have liked (especially with the world cup). It’s been pushing me towards thinking about upgrading our television service. I’d especially kill for a sunday ticket channel once football season starts up.

I’ve also been checking out sports outlets such as Time Warner sports and Cox sports and they’re just showing me everything that I’m missing! They’ve even got shows on about softball, a game that I used to play and have never, ever seen being played on television. I could sit and watch softball games all day long and never get bored once. I love the sport and watching it reminds me of the ‘good old days’ as I call them.

As I’ve said before, I’m moving soon, and every day I find more and more things that I’m going to need to require from whatever form of television I end up with. Sports are a definite must now because every time I watch them on the TV I fall more and more in love. I guess I’m just never going to be a full-fledged girly girl. I’m always going to have my boyish habits, and watching sports is just one of them!
