Day From Hell

So remember yesterday when I said I was going to do something to cheer myself up? Well that didn’t happen. In fact, my day has been anything but cheerful.

Last night I could not, for the life of me, fall asleep. So my day began with zombie Whitters rolling out of bed at 7:15 a.m. so that I could head to my 8:00 class. I got ready and trudged over to the school in the cold only to get to my room and just sit there…

By 8:15 I realized something was very, very wrong. I was about to go out and look around in the hall when the registrar stopped into the room and informed me that a) my class had been changed to Thursday morning and b) my entire schedule had to be rearranged as a result (and because I picked up my schedule yesterday morning like we were supposed to, I was thus not informed of item a).

School Schedule
My new, new, new schedule

So now, ladies and gentlemen, my schedule has changed 3 times in a 48-hour period and I am pissed. And on top of that I am being forced to deal with Internet access from hell, so my patience and mental stability are basically on a downward spiral at the moment.

Original Schedule
Mon: (8-12) Screen Design & Graphics
Tues: (8-12) Design & Typography
Wed: Off
Thurs: (8-12) Composition & Language II
Fri: (8-12) Web Site Development

This was my official schedule which I picked up from the registrar yesterday. I loved this schedule because I had applied to work various places around town under the premise that I could work every afternoon/night and all day Weds/Sat/Sun if needed.

But my Monday morning teacher hates Mondays, so as a class (theres only 3 of us) we decided that if we could get a room/day/time change we’d go for it. So yesterday the class got changed.

2nd Schedule
Mon: Off
Tues: (8-12) Design & Typography
Wed: (1-5) Screen Design & Graphics
Thurs: (8-12) Composition & Language II
Fri: (8-12) Web Site Development

This was STILL okay with me, because I was trading off my off-day and my classes were still pretty much the same. I wouldn’t be able to work Wednesday nights (since the places I applied all close by 10 or so), but I kinda figured one night a week wouldn’t be too bad.

So I get up this morning and head to my class, and the previously mentioned story happens. I’m now left with this:

3rd Schedule
Mon: (8-12) Screen Design & Graphics
Tues: Off
Wed: (1-5) History of Art in Early Civilization
Thurs: (8-12) Design & Typography
Fri: (1-5) Web Site Development

Great. Just fucking peachy. Now I have TWO night classes, my day off has moved for the 2nd time, I no longer have Comp & Language, my Monday teacher has to move his class back to the original time, and apparently he also has to move his Friday class (he teaches Web Site Development too) to the afternoon.

So I end up back in my room feeling like the people here don’t know their heads from their asses and then I remember I’ve also got the lovely Internet problem to deal with.

Things I Can’t Do:
- Connect to my website via any FTP clients (except for web-based like net2ftp)
- Connect to my CPanel via whitters.nu/cpanel
- Stream live video
- Stream live audio
- Check my GMail via Outlook

Now if I were to drive home and plug into my home Internet, all of these things would magically start working again. So I emailed out Housing director who put me in touch with the landlord who basically said it was the ISP that is blocking everything and not them. Yet somehow I find this extremely hard to believe considering this is also the man who can’t seem to realize that if a routers backup battery fails every time theres a power outage then maybe you should replace it. Plus, friends of mine have service through the same ISP and they’ve never had any problems. So I think I shall be getting my own dedicated DSL pretty soon.

But yeah… Whitters is not a happy camper. I do believe I may be going home Friday or at least (hopefully) kidnapping Kyle for some Mikado or iHop.

My god, that would piss me off. They didn’t even notify you of the changes? That sucks.

Hopefully they don’t change it, again.

Ha ha, nooo. I have been waiting for a Nikon camera for such a long time. Although it’s not new, I love it already. The guy is bringing it to my Saturday. So excited.
