Making Online Shopping Easier
Nowadays I do most of my shopping online. But every time I purchase something I end up going through a “did I get the best price” mental debate. I’m an instant gratification kind of person, so I don’t do as much price research as I should when I’m making purchases and because of that I know I pay more than I need to in some cases. That’s why I’m happy to have heard about ShopWiki, a new site which not only helps you compare prices of items from several online retailers but also provides buying guides for those shoppers who need help picking out the perfect item.
At first I was a bit skeptical, since most comparison engines only include the companies that pay to opt into their search results. But ShopWiki’s search results include stores whether they have paid to opt-in or not. For example, I searched for a DVD of Alice in Wonderland for one of the versions of Alice I loved as a child. ShopWiki gave me 12 different places I could purchase the DVD, and not all of them were “major” online retailers. In addition to providing several results, it gave me one that was cheaper than anywhere else I’d looked so far.
I even checked out one of their buying guides (Desktop Computers specifically) just to see how they’re written and was thrilled to see that it covered important topics such as “Should I get a PC or a Mac.” The guide was well written and covered every single thing that I would urge a family member or friend to consider when they were contemplating a new desktop computer purchase. I’d definitely recommend these buying guides to anyone that I know.
But perhaps the most impressive thing about ShopWiki is that they’re not just pandering to an English-speaking population. Many comparison engines are only released in a select few languages and if you don’t speak one of them, then you have to find somewhere else to shop at. But ShopWiki is constantly expanding the number of languages that you can view the site in. You can view it in Dutch, Spanish and more!
All in all, I’m very happy to have heard about ShopWiki, and I will definitely be utilizing their services for a few of my upcoming purchases!
