Ready, Set, Go, Life at 80!
This is a guest post by Jerry Bran
How did I get here, I think to myself. Here I am celebrating my 80th birthday with a parachute jump from 10,000 feet! I laugh to myself thinking back. It wasn’t too long ago that I was at death’s door. If you would have told me I would be celebrating my 80th with a parachute jump I would have laughed. But, here I am.
It was like it happened yesterday. I had just received my hearing aid so I could at least still communicate with people when I met my best friend Sam. I was 75 and Sam was 85. We both lived at the same senior citizen home. We got to talking one day and decided we were tired of sitting around. So we decided to live life.
And that is what we have done. We have taken advantage of as many of the services available for seniors. Everything from senior spas, to senior dancing, to senior marathons. And I must admit that deciding to live life at 80 was one of the best decisions that I have ever made. Thanks to the latest and greatest in technology and services available for seniors I am absolutely having a blast! I think that I am more active at 80 than most people are in their 40s!. So that is how I got to be on an airplane on my 80th birthday waiting for the all clear to make my first parachute jump. I have to survive this jump as I have a date scheduled for later on at the senior valentines dance!
